Flagstaff Hill, Russell, New Zealand: Noon, Waitangi Day, February 6th 2017: "Light a Candle" song & hope torch is lit by Miles Frankum, before being carried by jet ski, sponsored by Wai Not Tourism Ltd, across the waters to be welcomed to Waitangi shores and onto Te Tii Marae, with Karanga, shofar and conch blowing. Ngapuhi chiefs, Wiremu Wiremu and Sidney Tau gather in the Pacific Pearls Kaumatua marquee to light the Hope Torch under cover of the Kotahitanga Flag. Special thanks to Jackie West, Annie Stevens, Jessica Canning who accompanied Sharon for this event, the families of Russell, the Harawira family, Pacific Pearls Maori Ministry and the community that is Waitangi.
